The Evil in God? Ontology of Evil and Suffering in the Philosophy of Luigi Pareyson, by Mattia Coser

Luigi Pareyson stellt sich gegen philosophische Lösungsansätze, die die Realität des Bösen implizit oder explizit negieren. Um die Problematik in ihrer tragischen Tiefe und ontologischen Dimension neu entfalten zu können, braucht die Philosophie eine neue Art des Denkens. In Anlehnung an die positive Philosophie Schellings, findet Pareyson den gesuchten neuen Zugang zum Problem, einerseits in der Ausarbeitung einer Ontologie der Freiheit und andererseits in einer Hermeneutik des Mythos und der religiösen Erfahrung. Seine hermeneutische Sensibilität bringt Pareyson dazu, auch den modernen Roman als Ausdrucksweise einer neuen Form des Mythos zu interpretieren. Hier zeigt sich auch die große Aktualität des Denkens Pareysons, da der von ihm geöffnete Zugang zum Mythos einen wichtigen Beitrag leisten kann, das postmoderne Erfordernis eines neuen Mythos in den Blick zu rücken.

Pareyson finds a new way of thinking, on the one hand, in the elaboration of an ontology of freedom and, on the other hand, in a hermeneutics of myth and religious experience. His access to myth can be an important contribution to bringing the postmodern need for a new myth into focus.
